Although the flower bulb area is visited frequently because of the blossoming bulb fields and the Flower Parade in spring this region is worth a visit all through the year. For this reason the Stichting Gildemeester Bollenstreek started an art project “Giant Tulip Bulbs”. Man-sized pieces of art in the shape of a tulip bulb are painted by local artists. From Leiden to Haarlem 80 Giant Tulip Bulbs are placed, which each tell their own story that is related to the dune- and bulb area. Every bulb has its own style  and own story, abstract or figurative. Some of these bulbs you will pass during this bike tour, which makes the ride very diverse and attractive.

Cycle from Noordwijkerhout through the beautiful dune area to the beach. Here you can take a windy walk on the beach or enjoy a drink on a terrace. Ride through the lovely flower fields, which are in bloom during spring and summer, to the village De Zilk. Probably you have to wait at the rail track to follow your ride in the direction of Hillegom. Through the attractive centre of Lisse, world famous because of the Keukenhof, you will pass Sassenheim and end up at De Buitenkaag. Some parts of this wetland are only reachable by ferry. During the continuation of your bike ride you get in touch with places like Sassenheim and Voorhout, where you now really come across. Through a natural area with green, for example the estate Offem, and different canals you pass Noordwijk to return to Noordwijkerhout.
